How To Fix Protective Netting

Protective netting can be fixed in many different way. Depending on the way you choose to fix it, you gonna have to ask the manufacturer to finish your netting accordingly.Raw netting without any finish can also be used but because the mesh of netting are still small putting all the weight pressure on one mesh the rish of damaging your netting increase.

Tape and Grommets on Protective Netting

One of the favorite way to install protective netting is to use “S” hook on ceiling for exemple and then attach the hook on grommets. To put grommets on piece of netting it required that a vinyl or polyester band of tape was sewn around or on the top of the net. Then the grommet passes through the tape at regular distance usually at every 1 or 2 feet.

Roped Protective Netting

The most usual method consist of sewing or passing rope through the mesh of the netting. The thickness of the rope will easlily support the weight of the overall net. Then there is many easy way to install the net. You still can use “S” hook or you can attach the net anywhere without problem. Some people will go with Ty-Raps around post or pass Ty-Raps through the mesh that are reinforced with rope and attach the Ty-Raps on “O” hook. We saw that often in the ice rink for spectator safety net.

If you don’t know wich way to choose to fix your protcetive netting, you can find very good advice talking with manufacturer representant. Give us a call anytime to discuss your project.

How to Install Safety Netting

There is many ways to install safety netting. Over the years I saw many sports facility and even private house with creative way in their installation.

I saw a lot of people using Ty-Raps through the mesh all around post on each side and around cable on top and bottom. That is a good way, pretty solid. The safety netting will be fix and you gonna have to cut the Ty-Raps to remove it. In that case, at webclicshoppingmall we recommand sewing rope all around the netting. The thicker rope around will help with your installation and will make sure to not tear apart the mesh.

It is also possible to pass a cable through the top mesh of your net and hang the cable between two post. In that case, it is not necessary to sew the rope but I still recommand it. The netting can’t be completely straight between the post but you can adjust the tension of your cable.

Safety netting can be use as a curtain and allow the user to make it movable. I saw some client using tight cable and hook to attach the divider netting. In that case, we sew a 2″ band of vinyl tape on top of the netting. Every 1 or 2 feet, we add double grommet where the hook can connect. Some other will use the same but they install railing for easier movement of the protective netting.

Give us a call if you like to discuss your installation together we can find the best finishing work for your safety netting.

Protective Netting: What is to consider before buying?

If you are looking for protective netting to avoid injury or damage on electronic or other expensive equipment you must be sure the ball will not pass through the mesh of the safety netting.

Protection against golf ball is very different from baseball that is also different from basketball or soccer ball. Second thing is the breaking strenght. You need an higher breaking strenght for golf ball or hockey puck than a dodge ball. We always recommand nylon netting for golf ball while polypropylene is good enough for other sports ball. Finally the thickness of the netting will also determine the strenght of your protective netting. We usually see 2.1mm, 2.3mm and 2.8mm.

Then you can choose the color to matc the feel and look of your protected area. We see a lot of green color protective netting for all the golf club or driving range. Black is very popular as you can imagine and we see some white on the ice rink to match the ice color.

Another popular growing product is the clera monofilament. First it was intend to be used in the arena to stop the puck behind the hockey net or on the side rink. Then more and more we start to see these kind of protective net for other use. Very resistant, with high breaking strenght the clear monofilament has also the characteristic of being economic. They come in roll and it is a bit harder to customize the size even if its still possible. The installation must be done usually by using cable through the mesh.

Last part to looking at is the installation. Different technique can be use to install your protective netting. The border of the netting can be reinforced with sewing rope or a band of vinyl tape can be sew on top or around the net with grommet in that you can pass metallic hook or ty-raps.

If you need protection and you are thinking about protective netting give us a call, our specialist can help you find the right netting for your need.

Golf Nets And Golf Cages Aid Wintertime Practice

Golf is obviously a favorite pastime for millions of people around the world. It has been estimated there are 50 to 60 million golfers worldwide and anywhere are from 26 to 37 million in the United States alone. Even a so-called “cold” country like Canada has been estimated to have 5.2 million golfers, which is about
20% of the population. So what can all these millions of golfers do when bad weather strikes, especially in wintertime where snow covers the golf courses? You could, of course, head off for Florida or California or the other warm weather countries to play. But unless you have an awful lot of money that can still only fill up a couple of weeks. What else can you do? Why, practice of course.

Now, that might seem difficult to do since many of the golf ranges or practice ranges are also closed in winter. But that doesn’t mean your backyard or the local park or an open field is closed. There are open spaces everywhere where you can get in some good quality practice even with snow on the ground. All you need are the right tools and the willingness to get yourself warmed up.

A good golf net is imperative for winter practice. These offer you the opportunity of working on your swing without having to try to find your white ball in the white snow or even having to chase them at all. You can find good golf practice mats that can simulate driving off the tee [you use your own tees in a hole in the mat] or one of the golf mat varieties that have tough fibers that act like grass and that stand up to drivers and irons as you hit off their surface. There are other mats available that simulate variable lie positions [uphill, downhill or side hill] that you can use to practice with your wedge. And of course, you drive the ball into the net or golf cage for containment and easy retrieval.

When you look for a good golf net, make sure you purchase one that pops up and folds up easily. Too many people find it difficult to get in a lot of practice when they have to take a lot of the available time assembling or setting up a net. Surveys show that a long setup time usually means most people leave their nets in the garage or basement after a small amount of use. You want to find one that is as easy as possible to use, easy to set up and easy to take down. You want to spend most of your free time on practice with a golf club rather than a screwdriver.

A good golf cage is often much tougher than a golf net, will last longer and will offer more protection to people around you. But once again, make sure you get one that sets up easily. Quick and easy is always the best route to ensure that you will use it. A number of golf cages have snap-in poles and easy twist-lock eye bolts that allow you to set up things quickly. Many of them don’t require tools for the setup work and that’s even better. Getting one that is UV stabilized and mildew resistant as well will add to the lifespan and usability of your golf cage.

Don’t let the winter rob you of valuable practice time. You may not be able to play very often but that doesn’t mean you should stop working on your game. All it takes is a little creativity and ingenuity [along with a golf mat and net] and your game will be much improved when the fairways are open again.

The Soccer Net

” No more chasing the ball.”

Without a soccer net, a soccer goal is just a big box. The balls won’t stop. They would just make you chase them all over the place. So whether you have a local practice field or a backyard goal, a soccer net is a good investment.

Huh?

Just so you understand, the soccer net attaches to a frame that is the soccer goal. The mesh that you attach to that frame is what prevents having to chase balls all over the place during a soccer practice or soccer game. If the balls are going into the net.

Construction

Most soccer nets are made from polyethylene plastic or nylon cording. The diameter of the separate strands can range from 2mm to 5mm in diameter. This is the cord thickness. The holes, or openings in the mesh can range from 2.5 inches to 5 inches. The standard designs are either a honeycomb, (like the cereal), or square pattern.

Sizing

Because there are different sizes of soccer goals made for practice, pick-up, mini games, or full field games, there are different sizes of soccer nets. To ensure that you get the right size net heed the following guidelines:

  • Height - distance between the ground and the crossbar.
  • Width - distance between the 2 posts.
  • Top Depth - Distance from front crossbar to top corner of the frame.
  • Bottom Depth - distance from goal post to back crossbar on the ground.

Having these measurements accurate will help you get the right net right away. If you are unsure, always buy larger as you can double up the mesh if necessary.

What to Choose

A larger net made with a thicker cord will cost more up-front, but will last longer. If you think that this is not important, you may want to think again. A net will receive a lot of soccer balls during a practice or during games. Each time a ball hits the net it will affect the mesh. And every game or practice is going to see some bodies getting tangled up in that mesh. It will all have its effect on how long the net will last. You can decide what is important to you. I suggest that if the player age is 12 or older you will need at least a 3mm cord.

Putting up The Net

Attachments

  • Most goal frames come equipped with clips or bars to fasten the net onto the frame.
  • For existing goals, clips can be bought separately and you can install them yourself.
  • Velcro-type strips are also available to wrap around the poles to fasten the net. But these will probably need to be replaced often.
  • You can use twine or rope but it is really a pain to cut and replace on a regular basis.
  • Some people suggest using bungee cords. I say NO! The hooks can be very dangerous if someone runs into them. I do not feel that they are safe enough.

Anchors

  • Many goals come with anchors or stakes to secure the mesh to the ground.
  • You should have an anchor system in place on all soccer goals.

Backup

As time passes and more balls and people go into the net, they get worn and eventually will tear. Therefore, it is a good idea to have an extra set of soccer nets on hand for when this happens. Being prepared is always a good idea.

Caution

You may not think it is dangerous but putting up a soccer net can be just that. Be Careful. Watch your step and do not get your feet tangled in the mesh. One little twist the wrong way can cause a sprain or even a broken bone. I have seen it happen.

Batting Cage Frames and Batting Cage Nets Tips

Batting teams use batting cages to sharpen batting skills. As with all sports equipment, it is important to assess your needs and budget before determining the best batting cage equipment for you and your team.

Batting cage equipment can be purchased through many sporting goods stores and suppliers. In addition, batting cage equipment can be ordered online and, in some cases, delivered as soon as the next business day. It can be advantageous to keep an extra supply of netting and frame pieces on hand in the event that parts become damaged.

Batting cages consist or two primary features – the net and the frame. All pieces can be purchased separately so that repair can be done without having to replace the whole cage. When ordering replacement materials, you should take note of the size needed, as there is a variety of sizes available for both nets and frames.

Batting cage nets can be purchased by the precut panel or piece. Primary types of material for netting are nylon, HDPE, Kevlar, and waterproof polymer. Because a batting cage is only as strong as its net, the choice of netting is important when deciding which product will suit your needs.

Batting cage nets and frames can be purchased as separate pieces of gauged steel or galvanized steel tubing and cut to fit the prescribed size or purchases in a pre-measured kit. Cage Frames are made to withstand weather and rust and come in a range of lengths and diameters. When purchasing a batting cage kit, make sure that all of the necessary connecting hardware will be included.

There are many options in choosing a batting cage kit. Certain materials in the netting or coating on the frame may have to be ordered online, depending on your location.

Paintball Netting Brings Safety

No one could predict paintball would grow so much. What at first started as a hobby back in the eighties, now has become a rapidly growing sport that attracts people from all ages and walks of life. This reflects also in the way matches are seen. At first the spectators were required to use masks and gear, but now the number of spectators is multiplied, and so the risk of injuries. That’s why netting is used nowadays.

Paintball netting was created with the spectator in mind. If you know about this sport, then you know how much damage a paintball can inflict if it falls on your head or eyes, or any part that is unprotected! A well installed netting, will avoid all that while letting everyone enjoy a good match from the outside.

What about Outlaw paintball fields?

Outlaw paintball fields are not required to install netting around the course. Suffice to say, it doesn’t bring the necessary safety to enjoy these kind of games, so if you are watching a game in these kind of fields, I heavily recommend that you use all your protective gear as if you were playing.

If you own an outlaw field, you can also purchase and install your own netting. I recommend this specially if there are lots of people coming to your field. Netting is ordered by square foot, and can be a great investment because of the higher safety you provide.

Using netting is great for paintball, it helps it stay away from the shadow of being a violent and dangerous sport. It can reduce a lot the injuries in spectators to a percentage even lower than tennis! Find more paintball tips.

Trampoline Net For High Adventure

Enormous numbers of adventurous joys of trampolining includes seeing how high you can jump and one of the greatest fears undoubtedly is jumping too high and falling off the trampoline onto the hard ground ten feet below you. Just do it away with a netted enclosure. This type of net attaches to the frame of your trampoline and encloses the jumping surface.

An overlapping entrance allows jumpers to get easily in and out while still having the jumping surface surrounded wholly all the time. Trampoline net is often six feet high and comes in variety to fit most trampolines. The netting can either be mounted on the inside of the jumping surface or on the outside frame. Mounting it on the trampoline frame maintains a comparatively larger jumping area.

Trampoline net has a 1″ mesh which is usually done with either a soft but strong nylon or polyethylene. Nylon nets have the highest break resistance. However, if not treated properly, nylon absorbs water and sunlight, which makes the netting deteriorate quickly. Polyethylene isn’t as strong as nylon, but is cheaper to produce and doesn’t deteriorate as rapidly and hence makes up for more cost-effective trampoline netting.

Trampoline net is easy to install and no special equipment or drilling is required for installation.

Whenever you purchase trampoline net make sure that it is UV resistant for longer wear. A trampoline with an enclosure is more likely to be blown about by the wind. Always consider buying anchors when you purchase your trampoline netting. For trampoline safety purposes, make sure that children do not climb the netting or use it to rebound back onto the jumping surface and the Netting would allow you to jump high that too much safer
